Inner State Gallery is proud to announce three unique solo exhibitions at the annual Scope Art Fair in Miami Beach including Detroit’s Tyree Guyton, Washington D.C.’s Naturel and Los Angeles’ Ryan McCann.

The prestigious Scope Art Fair takes place in the heart of Miami Beach and since its inception has proved to be the place to see the world’s leading contemporary artists and galleries. A monumental pavilion will welcome nearly 40,000 visitors over the course of six days. Showcasing more than 100 of the world’s best contemporary galleries, thousands of artists will unveil new groundbreaking work during the largest art festival in the country.

The work of Tyree Guyton will feature a selection of sculptures created in the spirit of Guyton’s iconic Heidelberg Project, ranging from the projects tumultuous demolition by the City of Detroit in 1999 to the recent arson attacks. In addition, Guyton will showcase mixed media works featured in his 2005 exhibition “American Flag” at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African History.  Many of the art works presented in this exhibition have never been presented to the public commercially, living exclusively as installations in Detroit or in museums around the world.

A modern tastemaker, Lawrence “Naturel” Atoigue’s first solo exhibition will feature seven original works to be unveiled publicly for the first time at Scope Miami. Featuring Naturel’s signature clean cut triangular illustration style, these mixed media pieces seamlessly blend cubism and pop culture through a surrealist lens.  After a successful exhibition of works on paper in New York City this past summer where pop culture icons Swizz Beats, LL Cool J, and Spike Lee added Naturel’s work to their collections, Naturel’s work in Miami is sure to garner the attention of art collectors around the world.

Ryan McCann’s life-size mixed media sculpture “Death To Shepard Fairey” will also make its debut at this year’s Scope Miami. The six-foot sculpture is sure to stir a wide range of emotions about the contemporary art scene and one of its biggest players. Love it or hate it, the former NFL quarterback’s work is sure to elicit a response as he unveils the latest work in his continuing “Death To...” series that has tackled the likes of Kaws, Banksy, Jeff Koons, and Damien Hirst.

Tyree Guyton:

Tyree Guyton was born in 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. Primarily a painter and sculptor, Guyton has also been described as an urban environmental artist waging a personal war on urban blight on Detroit's East Side  by transforming his neighborhood into a living indoor/outdoor art gallery known as the Heidelberg Project. Through his art, Guyton has drawn attention to the plight of Detroit’s forgotten neighborhoods and spurred discussion and action. Guyton’s vision for the Heidelberg Project has been described as Detroit’s own Ghetto Guggenheim,  and is recognized as the most powerful outdoor art environment in the world. Guyton’s work is prominently displayed in museums around the world notably at The Detroit Institute of Arts,  Kresge Art Museum and Studio Museum of Harlem. He recently completed a 12 month residency at the prestigious Laurenz House in Basel Switzerland, upon invitation by Maja Oeri and Hans Bodenmann.
